When I first started using organic shea butter about 12 years ago, I loved what it did for my skin, but it took me a while to get used to the very thick texture. Since shea butter melts at body temperature and absorbs rapidly into the skin, I took my time to apply it, but honestly it was a little time consuming. Despite the thickness I stuck with it because the benefits far outweighed those small details. I began to feel my skin tightening, smoothing, my tone evening out and there was no way I was going to let that go! "Lotion" has not touched this body for well over a decade!
In its original state unrefined Shea butter can be hard and sometimes not so easy to apply on a larger skin area. If you're looking for a creamier, softer, fluffier and more like fancy commercial creams, without the chemicals, then whipped shea butter is definitely for you! Whipped shea butter doesn't change its wealthy mineral healing properties and you benefit from the soft smooth and ease of application. Making a whipped shea butter cream is little bit more demanding and requires some practice and trial and error effort, but well worth it in the end.
While making whipped shea butter cream, I also add some other natural carrier oils and essential oils depending on what people like in fragrance & purpose of their shea butter cream. For instance, if I'm making a special blend for hair, or for eczema I'll infuse pure oils like coconut, aloe vera, grape seed, Jamaican black castor oil just to name a few. These oils boost the healing power of shea butter tremendously and nurtures your skin with the moisture balance it needs to prevent extreme dryness.
I've found the most common use for my shea butter for men is after hair cuts and after shaving. Eventually, they see the benefit of using it all over and get the ultimate shea experience!
For people with sensitive skin, I recommend the unscented whipped, or one with a natural oil mix like pure Vitamin E, avocado or grape seed. The body oil blends may sting a little on broken skin, open cuts/wounds, so having a jar of raw/infused shea butter handy is always recommended.
Whether you're looking for a natural solution for your hair, face or body, organic whipped shea butter is definitely one that your skin will love! Once you start using it and see the difference in your skin, you'll never want to go back to using lotion again!
